Position Overview:

The Vendor Specialist is responsible for ensuring that meals go out correctly to our school partners, in a timely manner from our vendor partners. The vendor specialist will also help solve any ongoing issues, inspect food quality, and assist with training new vendors. The vendor specialist also works closely with the lunch coordinators to make sure the vendor is left clean and free of TYC owned items. Hours are primarily between 7am-11am. The Vendor Specialist will assist at various vendors in the market, but primarily in the College Park area.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with local community vendors to coordinate, organize, verify meals. Specialists will work with Yay members to ensure meals get delivered in a timely and efficient manner. No food prep is involved.
  • Assist vendors with labeling of items.
  • Verifying and sorting all orders before distributing to lunch coordinators.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, such as sinks and storage areas, to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Print out labels for the next day and begin labeling containers and items.
  • Communicate effectively with the vendor on any issues with food quality or safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with OL, CL, or VL on any unresolved issues.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure meals are safe and properly handled
  • Ensure the space is clean and left free of trash or TYC items
  • Complete vendor check ins for local vendors to ensure they’re following TYC protocol.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while representing Yay as a Lunch Coordinator, promoting the company's values and mission.
  • Assist with researching feasible vendors for the team to use.

          Qualifications:

          • Previous experience in customer service, food service, hospitality or related fields is preferred.
          • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
          • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people, including students, faculty, and staff
          • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
          • Ability to work well with vendor staff, students, and other team members.
          • Flexibility to work early morning, as scheduling will depend on each individual vendor’s needs. Positions will be part-time (18-20 hours per week)
          • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for meal deliveries
          • Listed as an insured party for your vehicle
          • Clean driving record

          • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
          • ServSafe certification is preferred but not mandatory; can be obtained once employed

              Compensation:

              • $19 per hour
              • Data stipend
