Who we are

At TeachFX, we're using AI to show educators personalized insights about the learning dynamics in their classroom, helping them understand which of their instructional practices are making the greatest positive impact on student engagement and equity. We're bringing together the best of computational linguistics, machine learning, and education research to superpower teachers in their work.

We are a growing, mission-driven team and are looking for an entrepreneurial, multi-talented Strategic Initiatives Associate who shares our passion for creating more meaningful and equitable classroom dialogue. As Strategic Initiatives Associate, you’ll report to our COO and work closely with our leadership team to support new business development initiatives and strategic experiments. Initially, you’ll do cold outreach to book meetings with key stakeholders, conduct desk research, and do user research and stakeholder interviews. Depending on your interests and skills, you’ll also have the opportunity to support the company more broadly in our people and culture, operations, and/or finance work. If you excel in this role, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into a functional leader (for example, Sales Lead for teacher certification programs or curriculum providers) or a Chief of Staff role as TeachFX scales.

We’re backed by best-in-class investors including Pearson Ventures, Ulu Ventures, Newfund, Brighteye Ventures, Osage Venture Partners and Reach Capital. We’ve been remote since the pandemic started and plan to support a remote-first work environment for all our team members for the foreseeable future. About half of our team is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, while the rest of the team is spread across the country. This role will involve periodic travel (4-8 trips per year) to attend conferences and in-person meetings and participate in company retreats and team activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth market research. You’ll conduct desk research and stakeholder interviews to build in-house expertise on markets of strategic interest to TeachFX, including curriculum providers, teacher certification programs, and early childhood education centers.

  • Build models. You’ll build models that will enable us to thoughtfully analyze each new business opportunity so that we can make strategic decisions and prioritize accordingly.

  • Book meetings and lead follow-up. You’ll book prospective customer meetings for our Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Growth Officer. You’ll own the next steps and follow-up from those meetings to ensure we’re following up promptly, communicating skillfully, and never dropping balls.

  • Conduct user research. You’ll stay close to users from new market segments, including teachers, coaches, professors and professional development providers. You’ll ask the right questions to understand how they use TeachFX, how they think about our value proposition, and how we could make our tool even more valuable.

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally. You’ll work closely with our leadership, Product, Research and Partner Success teams to ensure that our strategic experiments are well-positioned for success and key internal stakeholders are giving input at the right times and are kept up to speed.

  • Support company operations. Depending on your interests and skills, you’ll have the opportunity to support our COO with our operations, people and culture and/or finance work. For example, you might plan our annual company retreat or holiday party, run our quarterly company culture survey, or figure out a more seamless way for us to collect customer payments.

  • Serve your colleagues and the organization as a keeper of our culture. You’ll lead by example as you live our values of Service, Creativity and Dialogue, and you’ll work to ensure that TeachFX is a great place to work for everyone on our team!

Who you are

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial self-starter who’s passionate about equity in education and has experience in strategy consulting, go-to-market work, business development or a related field. You might be a good fit if you are:

  • Mission-driven. You care deeply that your work is making a positive impact on the world, and you are not content until you are making that impact at scale. You need to work in service of a mission you believe in, and the TeachFX mission resonates strongly with you.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of independence. You’re skilled at taking high-level guidance as an input, putting structure and process around that guidance, and creating and executing on an action plan with relatively little supervision.

  • Proactive and creative. You have a bias towards action. Instead of “we can’t do that because…” you say “here’s how we could make that happen…” and are quick to take action. You’re data-driven and eager to test hypotheses about which strategies and tactics will enable our team to achieve its goals. You’re low ego, and will implement the idea that produces the results you’re looking for, even if it’s not your own.

  • Flexible and adaptable. You understand that things change quickly at a startup and are excited to be in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment. You’re quick to adapt and pivot when yesterday’s approach isn’t the best way to achieve today’s goals.

  • A detail-oriented strategic thinker. You prioritize deliberately, communicate proactively, and make sure that both you and your cross-functional collaborators stay on top of important priorities. You’ll contribute ideas for big-picture company strategies, but you’ll also roll up your sleeves to do unglamourous tasks that will ensure we’re working together efficiently and effectively as a team.

  • An excellent communicator. When conflict arises, you know how to listen and talk through it. You are open and transparent in your thinking and never leave important things unsaid.

  • Service minded. You do what you do with the goal of serving others, whether that’s helping your colleagues do their best work or enabling educators to grow and thrive in creating better learning environments for kids.

Does this sound like you? Maybe you did a couple years of management consulting and are looking for something more mission-driven and entrepreneurial. Maybe you’re an analyst at a venture capital firm and want to step into an operating role. Maybe you’re in an early career business development or sales role and are looking for a role with more autonomy and ownership. Or maybe something else! If this is the right role and the right mission for you, please submit your resume and a letter of interest via our online application. We look forward to getting to know you.
