At Preply, Finance Operations plays a crucial role in ensuring our financial data is accurate, scalable, and seamlessly integrated across all business functions. As we grow, the complexity of our revenue streams, payment processing, and financial reporting presents exciting challenges that require automation, innovation, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
As part of the Finance Operations team, you’ll work at the intersection of finance, data, and technology, helping to streamline financial processes, improve integrations, and ensure consistency in financial reporting. You’ll collaborate closely with Accounting, FP&A, Data, People, and B2B teams to optimize workflows, enhance automation, and drive improvements in financial accuracy. Your contributions will help Preply scale efficiently, maintain financial integrity, and create a seamless financial experience across teams and systems.
Our Finance team is focused on building a best-in-class financial ecosystem that empowers data-driven decisions and operational efficiency as we scale to the next level.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee and enhance the finance tech stack, ensuring smooth integrations between systems (Netsuite, Abacum, etc.).
- Manage and optimize existing financial integrations, identifying gaps and ensuring consistency in data flows across revenue, cash, and reporting.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting, reconciling data across different sources to prevent discrepancies.
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A, and Data teams to align on data definitions, financial reporting accuracy, and automation initiatives.
- Own monthly & quarterly consolidated management reporting including Budget vs Actuals analyses, dashboards, and Board materials. Coordinate across relevant teams to surface insights to leadership.
- Lead finance automation projects, reducing manual work and improving efficiency across finance-related processes.
- Work closely with Product teams to improve our Payments’ stack and deliver business value via reduced payment fees, new currencies, payment methods, and more
- Work closely with People and B2B teams to improve financial workflows, including payroll, billing, and revenue recognition.
- Collaborate on cross-functional finance projects, driving process improvements and ensuring seamless execution.
- Act as the project manager for finance operations, keeping stakeholders informed, tracking milestones, and ensuring timely completion of key initiatives.
- Be a problem-solver and enabler, ensuring finance is an efficient, data-driven, and user-friendly function across the organization.
What you need to succeed:
- +5 years’ experience in a Finance Operations role, ideally for a Tech company with around 1,000+ employees or similar size
- Strong finance systems expertise, with experience in ERP systems, planning tools, payment platforms, and financial reporting tools. SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Solid understanding of financial data structures, US GAAP, revenue recognition, and cash reconciliation.
- Experience managing integrations between finance and other business systems (e.g., CRM, HR, payments).
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and ensure data consistency.
- Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with Accounting, FP&A, Data, and cross-functional teams.
- Project management experience, with the ability to drive initiatives from scoping to execution.
- Automation mindset, comfortable leveraging technology to improve finance processes.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, able to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Great communication skills, making finance processes easy to understand and work with across teams.
