Responsibilities

  • Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery
  • Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition
  • Administers emergency measures when complications arise
  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids

Compensation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants
  • Current, valid certificate of registration
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in a hospital inpatient environment, preferably involving high-acuity cases, is strongly preferred
