Essentia Health is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to women across their lifespan, focusing on optimal health for individuals with normal pregnancies and gynecologic needs. This role involves antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, gynecologic services, and health maintenance. The CNM will join a collaborative, high-volume OB practice, working towards building a fully independent midwifery program.

• Join a team of experienced Certified Nurse Midwives who manage their own patient panels and provide continuity of care through delivery

• Comprehensive care team consisting of 14 physicians, 7 midwives, 4 genetic counselors, 3 nurse practitioners, 1 physician assistant, and 35 additional team members
• Located in the OB/GYN Department - Duluth Clinic - 1st Street, with potential outreach locations in the Twin Ports Area

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to women across the lifespan, supporting the attainment and maintenance of optimal health for individuals with essentially normal pregnancies and gynecologic needs
• Encompass antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, as well as gynecologic services, health maintenance, and management of minor acute illnesses
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine appropriateness for midwifery care
• Provide individualized prenatal education
• Collaborate with licensed health care providers as needed to ensure comprehensive, high quality care
• Deliver routine prenatal care, including monitoring vital signs, fetal growth and development, and laboratory results, while addressing the physical, nutritional, and emotional needs of the patient and their family
• Attend and support the natural process of labor and birth, providing postpartum care to the mother, completing initial newborn assessments
• Offer education, guidance, and referrals to community resources related to childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, nutrition, exercise, parenting, and newborn care

Compensation

• Compensation Range: $70,349.76 - $98,492.16
• Call shifts are not included in the assigned FTE and are compensated separately, with additional pay when called in
• Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives or production-based compensation

Shift & Schedule

• 0.6 FTE position
• Practice includes clinic, hospital coverage, and potential oncall responsibilities for laboring patients
• Participation in weekend and call rotation
• Day/Eve Rotation

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master degree and certified registered nurse midwifery program as approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in MN
• Current certification in CPR
• National certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
