Cleveland Clinic is seeking Anesthesiologist Assistants (AAs) to join their collaborative team at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio. This role offers a dynamic work environment with a wide variety of cases across 15 operating rooms, an endoscopy suite, and a cardio suite. Practice Info

• Mercy Hospital is a tertiary care facility and a Level 2 Trauma Center
• Collaborative work environment with Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Medical Doctor Anesthesiologists (MDAs)
• Team tackles a wide variety of cases including general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, plastics, vascular, cardiothoracic, gastroenterology, obstetrics, and some pediatrics
• 15 operating rooms, an endoscopy suite, and a cardio suite

Responsibilities

• Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery
• Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition
• Administers emergency measures when complications arise
• Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam
• Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia
• Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia
• Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems
• Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids

Compensation

• Minimum Annual Salary: $230,000
• Maximum Annual Salary: $299,000

Shift & Schedule

• Flexibility in scheduling, allowing AAs to work different shifts including 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour, 16-hour, and even 24-hour shifts
• Occasional weekend call from home

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents
• Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants
• Current, valid certificate of registration
• Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
