California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking a Physician Assistant for Calipatria State Prison in Imperial County. This part-time role involves assessing and managing the healthcare needs of patients within ambulatory, inpatient, and specialized clinical settings. The Physician Assistant will perform physical examinations, therapeutic procedures, interpret results, and provide patient education and counseling.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage the health care needs of patients in ambulatory, inpatient, and specialized clinical settings
• Perform physical examinations and therapeutic procedures
• Interpret routine laboratory and imaging results
• Educate and counsel patients regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental health
• May be assigned call duties with back up supervision by a physician manager

Compensation

• Monthly part-time salary range for this position is $6,481 to $7,468.50
• New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable
• Effective July 1, 2025, base salary reduced by 3 percent due to Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025)
• Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base
• Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period

Requirements

• Possession of a current Physician Assistant license for the State of California
• If using academic education above the twelfth grade to meet minimum qualifications, include a copy of your degree and/or Informal (Unofficial) School Transcripts
• Applicants who completed their education outside of the US must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency
• New to CCHCS candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment, followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter
