JOB SUMMARY
Join our dynamic team at Star Lab, where we deliver a world-class elementary education using best teaching practices and positive relationships. As our Reading Coach and Admissions Director, you will have two essential roles.

Reading Coach - You will support teachers and teaching assistants in applying best practices from the Science of Reading to their instruction. You will be comfortable modeling lessons, debriefing with teachers, and helping plan instruction. You will be happy to serve as a substitute teacher when one of the teachers or assistants is absent.
Admissions Director - You will be a resource to students, families, and staff, helping to recruit and enroll our upcoming cohorts of students. You will assist with organization of paperwork, campus communication, and office management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering reading instruction, using a Coaching Cycle for accountable progress
  • Model best practices in instruction, comfortable teaching in various subject areas and grade levels
  • ​Plan and supervise field trips several times a month
  • Provide supervision and discipline as needed for students in distress
  • Lead admissions process and complete office tasks to keep campus running smoothly

  • Support students, teachers, and families in positive collaboration to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Organize complex processes, including paperwork and data tracking, following up to ensure completion of requirements
  • Support diverse family backgrounds with a culturally rich perspective
  • Help out in any way needed - no job is too small


Qualifications

  • Education: College degree.
  • Experience: Three years teaching experience, with elementary reading experience strongly preferred
  • Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken), master teacher at elementary grades, collaborative with different personality types, proficient with computer-based tasks, and able to hold firm yet respectful expectations.
  • Certifications: Not required​

Teaching Schedule

  • Your days will be split between office work and supporting teachers in the classrooms
  • ​You will move between two Star Lab campuses (2300 Central Ave. and 1790 21st St.)
  • You will have additional supervision responsibilities on Fridays when teachers are in meetings, and you and the teaching assistants will run the day's activities.


Working Conditions

  • Active role involving significant movement and interaction with young learners.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, especially on field trips
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Dress for comfort as parts of our day may include sitting on the floor or playing outside!


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $57,222 annually for work August - May, plus up to $2,000 year-end bonus for meeting school goals.
  • Benefits: $7,200 healthcare contribution ($600/month added to salary for a total guaranteed salary of $64,222).
