Your Impact

Handshake is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst position, reporting to the Head of FP&A, on the Finance and Business Operations team. The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key player in driving financial planning and analysis activities, helping inform strategic decisions at the highest levels, and shaping the future of the FP&A function at a world class, mission-driven organization.

This person will take ownership of the three-statement corporate financial model, collaborate closely with the Accounting team during month-end closes, conduct Budget vs Actuals analyses, and provide critical support for organization-wide annual planning and quarterly forecasting. In addition, this individual will serve as a strategic business partner for several General & Administrative departments, including the Office of the CEO, Legal, and Trust and Safety.

Your Role

  • Three-Statement Financial Model
    • Own and maintain the corporate three-statement financial model, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
    • Implement updates and improvements to the model based on changes in business strategy, market conditions, and other relevant factors.
  • Month-End Close Support
    • Collaborate closely with the Accounting team to ensure seamless month-end closes, providing input for material accruals, as wella s reconciling financial data and addressing any discrepancies or necessary reclasses.
    • Analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Budget vs Actuals Analysis
    • Conduct comprehensive analyses of budgeted financial performance against actual results.
    • Identify key drivers of variances and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Annual Planning and Quarterly Forecasting
    • Play a pivotal role in the organization-wide annual planning process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop realistic and achievable financial targets.
    • Support quarterly forecasting activities, providing accurate and timely financial projections.
  • Business Partner Support
    • Serve as a strategic financial advisor and business partner to G&A departments, including the Office of the CEO, Legal, Finance & Accounting, and Trust and Safety.
    • Work closely with departmental leaders to understand their financial needs, challenges, and objectives.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or advanced certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a corporate FP&A role.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel/ Google Sheets.
  • Experience with three-statement financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Bonus areas of Expertise

  • Previous experience with financial planning software (e.g. Adaptive Planning, Anaplan).
  • We value candidates who have demonstrated ownership in their careers – proactively addressing issues and exploring opportunities or insights. They should also have a bias for action – earning trust by “putting up wins” (vs. endlessly strategizing without results).

Compensation range

  • $125,000-135,000 + Equity

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
