Role Overview

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) collaborates with a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver personalized, high-quality care to older adults, supporting their independence and well-being within a comprehensive care program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and modify treatment plans under supervision, including exercises, mobility training, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Educate participants and families on home exercises, safety, and injury prevention to promote self-sufficiency.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatments as needed, and communicate changes to the supervising therapist.
  • Assist with participant transfers, maintain equipment, ensure safety protocols, and support infection control practices.
  • Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and supervise students or interns as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and safety standards, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current state license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience working with elderly or frail populations preferred; training provided if not.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to build rapport, and proficiency with therapy equipment and electronic health records.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and immunizations up to date.
