Provides comprehensive nursing care to a group of patients, acting as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, implementing, and evaluating care with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and cost efficiency.
Key Duties
- Educates patients and families on health promotion and disease management
- Administers medications safely following policies, utilizing pharmacology knowledge
- Ensures productivity and resource management, including staffing and supplies
- Complies with practice standards, regulations, and policies
- Supports Nursing Shared Governance through participation in unit councils and improvement initiatives
- Engages in professional development and evidence-based practice
- Creates a supportive environment for new staff and students
- Performs Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
- Current NYS RN License or NYS Limited Permit as a GN
- Preferred: BSN, clinical experience in acute or ambulatory settings, professional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
