Role And Responsibilities

The Diabetes Educator provides individualized education for clients with diabetes across all ages, assessing their health, psychosocial, economic, and language needs. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating personalized education plans in both classroom and outpatient settings, collaborating with RNs and RDs. The role involves professional development and community outreach to enhance patient care.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Oregon Dietitian License and CDR Registered Dietitian credential upon hire.
  • At least three years of recent experience in diabetes treatment and education.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories related to diabetes education and clinical diabetes management experience.
  • Preferred: formal coursework or credentials in adult learning principles, willingness to attain CDE certification, experience with diverse ethnic groups.

Key Duties

  • Provide comprehensive diabetes education tailored to individual needs.
  • Assess client barriers and develop appropriate educational strategies.
