Role Overview: The Supplemental Speech Pathologist evaluates and rehabilitates patients of all ages with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders, focusing on developing and maintaining communication and swallowing abilities. They document findings, provide patient and caregiver instruction, and recommend treatment plans. The role includes serving as a resource and mentor, overseeing training of assistants, students, interns, and technicians, and supporting program development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments and provide therapy for patients with neurological or functional disorders.
  • Document patient progress and provide education to patients and caregivers.
  • Mentor and train staff, interns, and technicians to ensure quality care.
  • Assist in program development and serve as a clinical resource for the team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state license in Texas and ASHA certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • 1-2 years of acute care experience preferred, with expertise in Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, and perform fine motor tasks.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and ability to move within patient care areas as needed.
